Mass of the Isles
A straightforward setting for unison singing, guitar and/or keyboard.
This setting was originally composed in 1986, using the text of the Scottish Episcopal Church's 1982 Liturgy. It was written for guitar and unison voices, and intended as an easily singable setting for those occasions when a choir and organist were unavailable or inappropriate.
A basic piano/organ part has since been added to allow it to be used more flexibly than the original guitar and voice setting would have done. It has also been updated to reflect the SEC's 2022 revision of the Scottish Liturgy. The original aim - that the setting should be singable and playable by a group with limited musical resources or expertise - remains unchanged.
